Welcome to Mule Creek Ranch — 230 acres of rolling pastureland in Middle Georgia, just outside Byron, where tradition, purpose, and genuine care shape everything we do. We’re the Bump family, and this ranch is more than just our operation — it’s our stand against everything broken in the food system.

It started with Robert Bump — the rancher behind it all. Known to us as 'Pops,' he founded Mule Creek Ranch in 2013 with one belief: your food should come from people, not factories. His steady hand and quiet determination built the foundation we now carry forward every day.

But it wasn’t until years later, after working across the globe in the commercial food and beverage industry, that we truly understood just how right he was.

As a former craft beer brewmaster and a pastry chef in high-volume international kitchens, we (Chris & Ashlee) saw firsthand how the system treats food like a product — manipulated, mislabeled, and stripped of meaning. Meat was the worst of it. And when we became parents, the disconnect hit home hard.

We knew exactly what we were feeding our kids — and we didn’t trust it. Not because it looked bad, but because we knew the label didn’t tell the full story. With vague sourcing and unclear standards, the grocery store meat aisle felt more uncertain than reassuring.

So we came back to Georgia. Back to the land. Back to what matters.

Today, we raise pasture-raised, dry-aged beef with zero shortcuts. No feedlots. No hormones. No compromises. Just animals raised right, on rotational pasture, with respect for the land and the families who’ll sit down to dinner with what we produce.

In late 2023, Robert’s brother — and our Uncle Keith — joined the Mule Creek Ranch team to lead satellite operations in Huger, South Carolina, just outside Charleston. With the same commitment to integrity, land stewardship, and high-quality beef, Keith is helping us bring Mule Creek’s mission to more families across the Southeast — without ever compromising the values we started with.
